The Truth about Title II
Phone and cable lobbyists are making the rounds on Capitol Hill, urging elected officials to sign on to letters disparaging the Federal Communications Commission’s plans to protect the Internet and bridge the digital divide.
The letters – which focus on the FCC’s move to “reclassify” broadband – are so fundamentally wrong that no member of Congress should in good conscience put his or her name on it. One letter is drafted by Reps. Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) and Joe Barton (R-Texas), while the other by Gene Green (D-Texas).
We’ve made it easy for you to see the lies and misinformation industry groups are spreading through the mouths of Congress. Simply roll over the highlighted copy on the letters to learn the truth about the FCC’s authority to protect an open and accessible Internet.
In the coming days, we’ll be updating you on who signs these letters, and who stands with the public by rejecting them.
